About ME

Ms. Arroyo

I was born and raised in small town outside of Fresno, CA called Sanger. I am an Apache; “Always with Pride!” After graduating high school I moved to Southern California where I attended Biola University for 3 years. I majored in Biochemistry and was part of the first Biola Women’s Swim team. After 3 years I transferred out of Biola University to California State University, Fresno, where I changed up a few things and double majored in Graphic Design and Biology. I graduated with a B.A. in Fine art with an emphasis in Graphic Design and a whole lot of sciences courses under my belt. Since then I have been working as a Graphic Designer and have been the owner of Christy Ann Photography & Design since 2001. I also worked for a few marketing companies along the way. While working my own business I have also been a Substitute Teacher since 2011. Subbing science classes has been my favorite part of subbing K-12. I would like to one day teach full-time and use my knowledge of science to inspire my students to continue their education in science and related fields. I am currently pursuing a Masters of Education degree with Credential from National University.

After taking the teaching personality test on the meterasa.com site my results were ESFP and ENFP. Which followed by saying I am complex and putting me into one group wouldn’t be right. So I am a action-oriented people person, seek to live a life to the fullest, and enjoy applying my people-skills to achieve a tangible benefit for people. I also have a strong sense of urgency and urge colleagues to get with doing something. As an ENFP I like to see the hidden potential in people. I enjoy stimulating and challenging others personal growth and I am enthusiastic about new projects or causes that benefit others. I agree with what the results as they describe me. It also suggested that I be an art teacher, or go into public relations.

For the second test I took, Index of Learning Styles Questionnaire, I am pretty well balance for active/reflective and sensing/intuitive with a score of 3. For the visual/verbal I scored 5 which is very true I am more of a visual learner. For sequential/global I am a 5 as well. I do like the whole picture. Learning style was pretty on point with what I think I am.

I definitely think my personality and learning style is fitting of the subject area I wish to teach. Which is Biology. Ironically it said art teacher, which I also double majored in fine art. So not bad in predicting what I would be good at. I think my learning style will help many in Biology as the subject is very visual and that’s where I tend to gravitate naturally. I am a people person with some introversion so I think it is a happy medium for students to get both sides of what will make for class that is enjoyable and fun. I definitely will use this newly found information to make sure I meet all students learning abilities. As I may gravitate to visual I know students of mine will be more verbal or learn by reading. I will be more aware going forward to meet all my students needs and not just what I prefer.
